CV Editing Service

A clear, concise and consistently formatted CV free of spelling and grammatical mistakes may not guarantee you a job, but it is certainly a very important first step towards getting that all-important interview.

My years of freelance editing have given me experience of helping lots of different types of people express themselves through writing in a multitude of ways for a variety of purposes, and I would like to use this experience to offer a free service.*

Are you ...

  • currently unemployed and looking for work in the UK?

  • somebody who sometimes finds it a challenge to express themselves via writing (perhaps due to a writing difficulty like dyslexia or similar)?

  • and / or somebody who speaks / is learning English as another language and perhaps lacks a bit of confidence when it comes to written English?

I would like to help! I am trialling a free CV editing service for those who are currently job hunting in the UK and who fit at least one of the other criteria listed above. I would also be happy to look at cover letters if they are part of a job application.

This is not a CV writing service. I will not be able to write your CV for you. Instead, I will edit a CV you have already written, checking for:

  • correct spelling and grammar

  • clarity of expression

  • consistency in formatting and spelling

I may also offer suggestions for things you could add or develop if appropriate.

I am not able to offer a design service, but I would be happy to style your CV in a clear, simple, easy-to-read format if this would be helpful.

If this sounds like a service that would be useful to you or somebody you know, please get in touch with me using the contact form at the bottom of the 'Work with Me' page and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

Please be aware that any CV or cover letter files that are sent to me will need to be in an editable format (e.g. Microsoft Word or similar).

* at my discretion and subject to availability due to personal time constraints.

Privacy note: sending me your CV may also involve sending me personal details such as your full name, home address or telephone number. Please be aware that I will take these into account for the editing process only and they will not be stored anywhere after I have finished your edit. If you feel more comfortable deleting contact details when sending me the CV document and adding them back in once the edit has been completed, this is also fine. Once I have returned your edited CV to you, I will delete it from my files so that your personal information is safe.
